How to Style with Abstract Designs
Abstract designs can be a great way to add visual interest and personality to a space. Here are some of my ideas on how to you can use abstract designs to style a space.
Choosing a Colour Scheme
Start by selecting a colour scheme that will be the foundation of your design. Abstract designs can be quite bold and busy, so it's important to choose a colour palette that will help tie everything together.
The palette here houses equal amounts of warm and cold colours. Using this will allow for better availability when trying to tie together the theme without feeling too stagnant. Limiting colours in a décor at times can make it feel very copy and pasted from room to room.
Selecting the Pieces
Once you have your colour scheme, you can start selecting the abstract pieces that will make up your design. This could include abstract paintings, rugs, throw pillows, or even wallpaper.

Mix & Match
Cushions aside, don't be afraid to mix and match different abstract pieces. While they may not all match perfectly, they should all have some element that ties them together, whether it's colour, pattern, or texture.
In the above example, we use wall art to mix into the décor that uses colour from the palette. Colours picked are the coldness in the teal into greens as well as the orange and yellows. Again to tie it together without feeling completely copy and pasted from room to room.

Creating Balance
To prevent your space from feeling too monotone in it’s style, it is important to create a sense of balance. This could mean placing complementary pieces on within the space which still echo the style by again matching in the theme and in this example it is using colour.

Adding Accent
To further tie your abstract design together, consider adding accents in complementary colours or patterns. This could include accessories like vases, picture frames, or even textiles like curtains or tablecloths.

Remember, the key to using abstract designs in a space is to be bold and have fun with it. Don't be afraid to experiment with different patterns and colours until you find a combination that works for you.
Think of dressing a room similar to wearing an outfit. If you wear all one brand in all one colour. It may hit very well but in all the room will be able to guestimate your whole outfit while if you mix and match, blend in variety while having common links such as colour then it makes more of a statement than just using one label.
